Dear Anne, Edwin and Tom
Gary's legacies will endure-the Hume Global Learning Centres, the achievements in justice and human rights at local government and at the international level in Timor Leste. Not only because they are good and decent things to do for the community but the spirit behind them is too! Vale Gary Jungwirth
To dear Anne, Edwin and Tom,
Firstly our sincere condolences from Athina, Lucas, Anastasia and Allan. Ever since Edwin and Lucas were born in December 1983 and both attended Melbourne University Family Coop Creche, we became friends both in Melbourne and Inverloch. We were always impressed with Gary's commitment to the Labor Party, the Fabian Society, social justice and furthering the Labor cause through editing Labor Essays and other publications. Recently, he was passionate about visiting refugees and ensuring their stories were told. It was great to spend time with Gary and Anne at special events like the Inverloch Book Club and concerts at Meenjin. Gary's love of collecting signed copies of books no matter what genre was legendary. We will miss you Gary. Rest in Peace.
To Garry.
Garry seemed to have more energy than me, despite being over 30 years my senior he put me to shame almost every day before pre-poll at the Victorian state election.
When I first spoke to Garry on the phone before the election he said "I'd love to help, let me check my Diary" and in all seriousness said "We might be going away to North Korea, or hiking X mountain"
Before then, I knew Garry when he used to visit people at the Melbourne immigration detention center for refugee's and I asked him to see a friend of mine.
Before then, I knew Garry because of his tireless effort in working with the then local MP to create the Broadmeadows Library (where I launched a number of tech businesses)
But today I know Garry as a great friend and support of his friends, family and party.

Gary, you were my friend and someone I looked up to. A man of great integrity and compassion. An epic humanitarian who always fought for the underdog. You touched so many people during your life, the folk of Hume and Timor Leste will be forever in debt to you. At least you got to see your beloved Tigers win a GF! I thank Anne and the family for allowing me to spend some time with you over the last months. Rest easy my friend wherever you may be, I’m sure you will be advocating for fairness and justice. Much love to the Jungwirth’s 333 Ann, Jarrod and Riley Potter
